Kibitsu Jinja(Kibitsu Shrine) deify "Kibitsuhikono mikoto" who is the model of "Momotaro".

*Momotaro is the famous story in Japan.
This shrine has been famous in Japan since Heian era (about 1000 years ago).

Hon-den (=main building) is recognized as National Treasure by Japanese government.
The construction system of Hon-den is absolutely unique.
It is called "Kibitsu Zukuri" and cannot be seen any other architectures in Japan.
Hon-den is pretty similar to its Izumo-no-Oyashiro(Izumo Taisha) but Kibitsu Jinja's is about twice larger as Izumo's.

とても珍しい不等辺五角形の天守台を持ちます。

This castle's base is unequal pentagon shape which is very unique shape in Japan.

Unfortunately, an original structure was burnt by the air raid in 1945.
Therefore, present castle was re-constructed in 1966 and that structure is reinforced concrete.

However, "Tsukimi Yagura" which was built around 1615 - 1632 was missed the air raid.
Therefore it still remains the original structure and recognized as Important Cultural Property by Japanese government.
