歩行者天国になっているので、安心してお店を覗くことができます。
また「かおり風景100選」に選ばれています。

Kashiya Yokocho is narrow alley where lovely small candy shops stands.
Those shops temptate visitors by the traditional candies and sweets and also provide the nostalgic atmosphere.
Besides, here is a vehicle-free area thus this area is very friendly to the pedestrian. Moreover, this Kashiya Yokocho is recognized as one of the "100 Scent Sceneries" by Ministry of the Environment.

時の鐘は川越のシンボルです。
今でも1日に4回、鐘をならしています。
（午前6時、正午、午後3時、午後6時）
環境省による日本の音風景100選にも選ばれています。

Toki-no-Kane (Time Bell Tower) is a significant icon of Kawagoe.
The origin of this clock tower is approximately 400 years ago.
You can hear the bell four times a day.
(6am, 12noon, 3pm and 6pm)
Furthermore, this sound is selected as a one of "100 Sound Sceneries of Japan" by the Ministry of the Environment.

小江戸川越と言えば蔵造りの街並み。
江戸時代に建てられた蔵造りは、江戸の街並みを今に残しています。
電線も地中化され、歴史的な街並みを保存し,重要伝統的建造物群保存地区として登録されています。
しかし目の前の県道を通過する車の量が多く、歩道が狭いため、散策する際はお気をつけ下さい。

Kawagoe is well know as 'Ko-edo' which means Little Edo and its townscape is based on Edo.
Kuradukuri which are built during Edo era and still remain Edo's townscape at this moment.
This area is listed as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings by Japanese government.
(Kura is the traditional store house.)
Powerlines are buried into the underground to save the historical townscape.
However, a prefectural highway through this are is extremely busy and path way is narrow.
Therefore, please pay attention to the passing vehicles.

喜多院は歴史のあるお寺です(830年に建立)。
また将軍家とも深いかかわりがあり、数多くの貴重な品が展示されています。
江戸城から移築されるなど建築物も貴重なものばかりで、多くが重要文化財に登録されています。
また500羅漢像も有名です。

Kita-in has a long history (since A.D 830).
In addition, this temple has a strong connection with Shogun during the Edo period.
Therefore, many many valuable stuffs are displayed.
Also, architectures in there have heritage value therefore most of them are recognized as Important Cultural Property.
Some of those buildings are removed from Edo castle.
500 hundreds statues (500 Rakan) are well known too.

日光東照宮と縁があるとのことです。
なので中国式の建築の影響が強く出ています。

国の重要文化財に登録されています。

This Toshogu relates with Nikko Toshogu.
(Nikko Toshogu is a World Heritage)
Therefore, this shrine has a strong influence from Chinese architecture.
