高知県香南市にある「のいち動物公園」に、ハシビロコウを見に行ってきました。
西日本では、のいち動物公園でしかハシビロコウを見ることが出来ません。
日本全国でも、上野動物園、千葉市動物公園、シャボテン公園、のいち動物公園の4園だけで見ることの出来るとても珍しい鳥です。

ハシビロコウの他にも多くの動物がおり、来園者を楽しませてくれます。
中でもブチハイエナの親子飼育は日本で初めての取り組みだそうです。

To see Hashibiroko (Shoebill / Balaeniceps rex), I visited Noichi Dobutsu Koen (Noichi Zoological Park) in Konan-shi, Kochi Prefecture.
Shoebill can be seen at Noichi Zoological Park only in west part of Japan.
Even whole Japan, you can meet the Shoebill only four zoo ; Ueno Zoological Gardens, Chiba Zoological Park, Izu Shaboten Park and Noichi Zoological Park.

Not only the Shoebill, there are many interesting animals.
Especially, displaying a family of Spotted hyena is the first experience in Japan.

About 20 mins walk from Noichi Station (Tosa Kuroshio Tetsudo Gomen-Nahari Line)
