皇居東御苑に初めて行って来ました。
宮内庁の管轄だけあって、とても丁寧に手入れがされていました。
また芝生が開放されているところがあり、芝生の上で寝転がって桜を眺めるという贅沢な時間の使い方が出来ました。

お昼時は近隣で働く人たちがお弁当を片手に、この綺麗な庭園を楽しんでいました。
入場の際に札を受け取りますが、帰る際はどの門からでも退園できます。
予約も必要なく、無料で開放されているのが嬉しいです。
モミジが多く植えられていたので、紅葉の時期も華やかに彩られることでしょう。

Kokyo Higashi Gyo-en (East Gardens of the Imperial Palace) is managed by The Imperial Household Agency.
Therefore, all plants are well maintained and their condition are good too.
Significantly, some part of lawn area is opened to the people.
(Generally speaking, we cannot enter the lawn area in Japan somehow...)
Thus, we can lie on the lawn and can enjoy Sakura.
It is nice, isn't it?
In addition, this site is used to be Edo Castle.
So you can see the gates are very much traditional style.

At the entrance gate, we will recieve a 'card' but we can exit any gates.
The other good thing is, No reservation and no entrance fee.
Many Acer trees are planted on this site therefore, we should visit here in the late Autumn too

大手門
東京メトロ丸の内線、東西線、千代田線、半蔵門線大手町駅C10出口から歩いて5分。

平川門
東京メトロ東西線竹橋駅1a出口から徒歩5分
北桔梗門

Three gates (Ote-mon, Hirakawa-mon, Kita Kikyo-mon) are the entrance.
Ote-mon
5 mins walk from Otemachi Station C10 entrance. (Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, Tozai Line, Chiyoda Line and Hanzomon Line)
10 mins walk from Nijubashi-mae Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line)
15 mins walk from JR Tokyo Station Marunouchi North entrance
Hirakawa-mon
5 mins walk from Takebashi Station 1a entrance. (Tokyo Metro Tozai Line)
Kita Kikyo-mon
5 mins walk from Takebashi Station 1a entrance. (Tokyo Metro Tozai Line)
