144 風見鶏の館(旧トーマス邸) - Kazamidori-no-Yakata(Former Thomas Residence)

レンガの外壁が目を引くのは旧トーマス住宅です。
尖塔の上に立つ風見鶏は、この北野町のアイコンになっています。
そのため風見鶏の館として親しまれています。

また、重要文化財に登録されています。

Former Thomas residence has the brick walls which show the different atomsphere from other housings in this area.
The weathercock on the top of spire is the icon of Kitano-cho.
Therefore, this house is called "Kazamidori-no-Yakata" (Weathercock house).

143 萌黄の館(旧ハンター邸) - Moegi-no-Yakata(Former Hunter Residence)

淡い緑色の外観を持つ小林家住宅(旧ハンター邸)は、その外観から萌黄の館と呼ばれています。
1903年に建てられ、至る所に美しさを感じることができる国指定重要文化財です。

庭には1995年の阪神・淡路大震災の際に崩落した煙突が、そのままの姿で保存されています。


Kobayashi Residence (Former Hunter Residence) has a light yellowish green outer wall.
Due to this appearance, this housing is called "Moegi-no-Yakata" (Yellowish green color residence).
Moegi-no-Yakata was built in 1903 and listed as Important Cultural Property.
You can see many beautiful design in detail.

The Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995 hit this area and three chimneies were fallen from the roof.
One of these is preserved in a garden as it was fallen into a garden.

142 うろこの家(旧ハリヤー邸) - Uroko-no-Ie(Former Harrier Residence)

Built in 1905.

長い上り坂を歩いたところに建つのが旧ハリヤー邸です。
外壁が魚のうろこのように見えることから、うろこの家と呼ばれ親しまれている洋館です。

また内部は日本の住宅に無い美しさと、家具の豪華さに目を魅かれます。
そして、二階のバルコニーから眺める神戸の街も絶景です。

After the long and steep slopes, Former Harrier Residence is standing.
This house has fishscale like wall so people call this house "Uroko-no-Ie".
*Uroko means fishscale in Japanese.

141 神戸北野町異人館 - Kobe Kitano-cho Ijin-kan

神戸市にある北野町(きたのちょう)は、異人館が残る著名な観光地です。
明治中期から大正初期に建てられた24棟が現在公開されています。

その中でも、うろこの家(旧ハリヤー邸)が有形文化財、萌黄の館(旧シャープ住宅)と風見鶏の館(旧トーマス邸)が重要文化財に登録されています。
またこの異人館が立ち並ぶ地域は、重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に指定されています。

きつい坂の上にあるので、歩きやすい靴をお勧めします。

Kitano-cho in Kobe city is very famous tourist destination due to the Ijin-kan (Western Style Residences).
Nearly 30 Western Style Residences which were built between the middle of Meiji era and the earlyTaisho era still remain.
Which means those western style dwellings are 100 years old and novelty in Japan.

Among those architectures, Uroko-no-Ie (Uroko residence / Old Harrier Residence) is known as Important Cultural Asset, Moegi-no-Yakata (Moegi Residence / Old Shrap Residence) and Kazamidori-no-Yakata (Kazamidori Residence / Old Thomas Residence) are recognized as Important Cultural Property.
In addition, these area is listed as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.  
You have to walk the steep slopes therefore, the walking shoes are recommended.

138 吉野山 - Yoshino Yama

吉野山は歴史的にも日本一の桜の名所と呼ばれるほどに有名です。
山の地域ごとに、下千本(しもせんぼん)、中千本(なかせんぼん)、上千本(かみせんぼん)、奥千本(おくせんぼん)と呼ばれ、下千本より順々に開花していきます。

桜の時期は周辺道路が大変混雑をするため、交通規制がかかります。
公共交通機関の利用を強くお勧めします。

吉野山は広いため、歩いて全てを散策するのは一日以上かかります。

People say Yoshino yama is the best Sakura spot from the ancient era.

From the foot of mountain, area is called as "Shimo senbon", "Naka senbon", "Kami senbon", "Oku senbon".
Generally, from the early April, Sakura starts blooming from Shimo senbon to Okusenbon.
Therefore, we can enjoy the neautiful Sakura pretty long time.

Yoshino yama is recognized as Scenic Beauty site by the Japanese government also listed as Workd Heritage Site.

During Sakura season, strict traffic rules are announced due to the avoiding heavy traffic jams.
Therefore, access by the public transportation is highly recommended.
Please refer the Mt Yoshino Tourist Association site.

You will take more than a day if you walk all Yoshino Yama site.

(山なので急な坂があります。)

または、吉野駅前よりロープウェイに乗車。

30mins walk through Shimo senbon from "Yoshino Station" (Kintetsu Yoshino Line).
